1. How do I get started?

The first step is to sign up with ONEMADGUY.com. Review the plans and sign up. Make sure you select the correct plan for you in the sign up form.

Once signed up, you will receive an email with your username and password. Click the login link to log into the control panel.

Once logged into the control panel, you can then setup your domain(s), reset your password, change your package selection or send payment.

2. How do I register my domain name?

You will need to register your domain name with a registrar. We recommend http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.networksolutions.com.  Once you have found and registered your domain name, when asked, you should enter the following for DNS (or name servers):

DNS3.ONEMADGUY.COM

DNS4.ONEMADGUY.COM

Please be aware it can take 48 - 72 hours for the changes to take affect and for you to be able to begin uploading your site.

3. How do I set up my domain name?

Log into the control panel by clicking on the login link circle above. Enter your username and password (you were sent an email with your login id and password when you signed up).

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have not sent payment (the current balance under Account billing on the left side in your control panel is not $0.00), you will not be able to complete the next step. Send payment by clicking on the billing icon and following the prompts.

Once logged in, you will be brought to the User Main Menu. Click on the Domains icon. Click Add New. Enter the domain name you have registered. Click Save.

You will be brought back to your list of domains. If you have signed up for the Personal Max, Business 100 or Business Max plans, you will see the Add New button and are able to add additional domains.

4. How do I set up my email accounts, email forwarding, and FTP?

In the Domains list in the control panel, click on your domain. You will be brought to the Domain Menu page. Here, you can set up your email, change your FTP password, manage your databases*, and other settings.

Just click on the Email Accounts (POP3) icon.

Make sure you set a password for each email account you set up.

You need to click on the FTP accounts icon  icon and change your password before you can access your domain via FTP to upload files.

5. How do I upload files to my site?

The following can only be done if you have already changed your domain name's DNS settings (see question 2), and it is pointing to ONEMADGUY.com. After you make this change, it typically takes 48-72 hours to take affect. If you've just made the change and would like to upload your web pages, you can follow the steps below but substitute ftp.onemadguy.com for ftp.yourdomain.com.

To copy your files up, you can use any FTP application or Internet Explorer. Just type ftp.yourdomain.com (for example ftp.onemadguy.com).

When you are prompted for your user name and password, use your domain name as the username and your password (see question 4.)

The first page of your website (the default page) must be named default.asp.

6. How do I check my email and what is my email (POP3) server name?

You can check your email at http://fastmail.digitalibiz.com or with Outlook Express.

Your email server name (POP3) is mail.yourdomain.com

Your user id / password is the email address and the password you set for that email address
